Andreas and Helen are the backbone of Rentsch Photography. Their passion for photography and art as well as their love of good food and wine brought them together. They were married on a picturesque vineyard on the North Fork of Long Island.
Andreas grew up in Switzerland and upon his arrival in the late 80’s rapidly achieved worldwide recognition for his masterfully crafted fine art photography. His imagery has been featured in many publications including Aperture. Andreas' work continues to be exhibited in galleries and museums around the world. The Polaroid Collection, Museum of Fine Arts in Houston, Museet for Fotokunst in Denmark and the Musée de l' Elysée in Switzerland have recently added his work to their permanent collections. He is a recipient of two New York Foundation for the Arts Fellowships. He teaches at the International Center of Photography in New York City and at Stony Brook University.
Helen's work can be found in The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York and is in various collections including The Polaroid Collection, Peter Norton Family Foundation, and The Buhl Collection. She has been a recipient of The Louis Comfort Tiffany Award Foundation Biennial Award. Her work has been exhibited in numerous exhibitions.
The dedication and creativity found in their own personal work can be found in their editorial, wedding and portrait photography. Andreas and Helen are fortunate that their great passion in life, art and photography, has become their livelihood. Whether they are photographing their own work, shooting a wedding or a child portrait, the joy of taking pictures is evident.
Weddings and Bar/Bat Mitzvahs can be stressful events for all involved and it is reassuring to have photographers that are unobtrusive, low maintenance and very friendly. A close relationship with their clients is very important as they strongly believe that photographing such events is built on trust. There are no second chances, and their vast experience enables them to handle any tricky situation that might arise, such as difficult lighting, a tight schedule or an unruly guest. They pride themselves on capturing intimate moments and timeless candids without disrupting the flow of your day. Although Andreas and Helen are always close to the action, they often get the feedback from their clients “that we didn't notice you at all”. They take this as a compliment. It is your day, and Rentsch Photography is here to document it in a memorable way.
